{Just Married} Kayla + Tony

The wedding invitations dubbed the upcoming nuptials of Kayla and Tony as “Best Day Ever,” and I can’t disagree with that!

Firstly, there are a couple of things to know:

  • I have traveled to different states to photograph weddings before, this is my first time going out of the country for a wedding! Kayla and Tony live in London, so that’s where their wedding took place.  Also, it was my first time attending a wedding in England, full stop. So cool!
  • I shot the whole thing on film. As much of a film enthusiast as I am, digital is usually my medium of choice for weddings. Not this time though. Between the fact that I don’t normally take digital cameras with me when I travel to England, and the fact that I just felt as if Kayla and Tony’s wedding would best be captured on film, well…these are all film photos!

Kayla and Tony were married at the beautiful Islington Town Hall in London. There were readings by some of he happy couple’s nearest and dearest, music sung with lilting vocals and ukelele accompiament by a talented friend of Kayla’s, and even a few laughs during the ceremony (such as when the ring bearer decided he wanted his grandfather, Tony’s brother and best man, to give the rings to the bride and groom during the exchanging of the rings portion of the ceremony. Hilarious!)

The wedding was 100% true to who Kayla and Tony are (which is to say: lovely individuals!) Probably because the amazing Kayla did it all! From the wedding cake to the bouquets and floral arrangements, it was all Kayla! Not to mention the design of the invitations, too!

Though the wedding was in a grand room, it felt like a very intimate setting due to the warmth and love felt by everyone in attendance.

Seriously. SO ADORABLE!

Tony, Kayla, and Baxter make a beautiful little family, don’t you agree??

Seeing a bride and groom walking from the town hall to the restaurant where the reception was being held gave onlookers a something to smile about!

In lieu of the guestbook, guests signed little wooden hearts and placed them in a keepsake frame

Super candid, but I love this one of the newlyweds, their little guy, and Kayla’s mom

They sure did!

Kayla and Tony’s wedding day was marvelous. You can just see that those two ADORE one another, and really, I could see how much their union meant to all their guests on that day. Much love to ya’ll!

{Just Married} Jessica + Dustin

After giving you a bit of a sneak peek with some film photos of the day, I’m so happy to finally share Jessica and Dustin’s wedding photos with you!

Jessica and Dustin’s wedding took place on a rainy Sunday afternoon at a FABULOUS venue in Memphis, The Atrium. And what a fun wedding day it was!

I started the day photographing Dustin and his groomsmen. I think it’s safe to say that they were enjoying themselves.

Then I got to go see JESSICA! She looked truly stunning.

Jessica’s bridesmaids, her friend Madison and sister Rebecca, helped Jessica get ready in the pretty little private room at the Atrium

So cute! Jessica and her mom!

Jessica’s nephew was the ring bearer/scene-stealer

More baby-chasing 😉

As I explained when I posted their engagement photos, Jessica and Dustin met at a drive-in movie. There were some fun nods to that on their wedding day.

Such a sweet look on Dustin’s face as he sees his bride enter the room

(and Rebecca’s tears – it was very touching)

I loved how much laughter was shared during the ceremony!

The kiss!

And now they’re Dr. and Mrs. Temple! Jessica was excited.

Waiting to be announced at the reception

Hey! It’s Dr. and Mrs. Temple!

It was hard to pare down the “first dance photos” to post here – I took a million because Jessica and Dustin were just precious as they danced to “All of Me”!

Cheers!

Enjoying the little ones during the reception

It wasn’t long before the dancing commenced!

Time to toss the bouquet!

After the reception, the newlyweds’ friends and family lined the steps leading out of The Atrium to bid them adieu.

Byeeeeee Jessica and Dustin!

Just kidding. They came right back and danced some more.

More dancing ensued. Including a soul train line. I think a good time was had by all!

And then, with little fanfare, Dustin and Jessica were on their way. But there was also a group hug with their friend Dylan before they drove off to begin their lives as husband and wife.

Congratulations to Jessica and Dustin! It was a wonderful day, and I hope I was able to convey that with my photos!

{Just Married} Jessica + Dustin, the bonus shots

I’ll be posting more photos from Jessica and Dustin’s beautiful wedding very soon, but first I wanted to share some of the snapshots I made of their wedding with my Fuji GA645i.

(Pardon the graininess of the photos – I like to shoot expired film sometimes 🙂 )

{Side Story} Wedding Photography

These are a bit overdue, as I’d meant to show these photos from Kat and Thomas’s wedding reception back when I made the original blog posts. I told Kat that I’d have to make a separate post just for these photos, because they cracked me up so much.

Let me set the scene for you:

I was at Kat and Thomas’s reception, documenting as much of its awesomeness as possible. Their little niece, E, approached me, wanting to me to take photos of her throwing flower petals in the air. She’d gone around and collected flower petals that’d fallen off people’s boutonnières and floral arrangements.

So she stood in front of me, and I’d count down “1, 2, 3!” so she’d know when to jump and throw the petals in the air (with much gusto!) I’d show her the photo on the back of the camera, and if  E wasn’t pleased with how well she could see the petals as they were mid-air, she’d pick them back up off the floor and repeat the process. It was amazing, because she initiated, orchestrated, and creatively directed her own little photo shoot, right there in the middle of her aunt and uncle’s wedding reception! It wasn’t long before her brother started trying to photo bomb the whole thing. Their cousin kept trying to pull him out of the way so E’s photos wouldn’t be ruined. Hijinks galore!

In the end, we did get a couple of photos that E felt satisfied with, plus ones where her brother was being a real pill!
