{Just Married} Jennifer + Chris

As promised, here are photos from Jennifer and Chris’s wedding day!

Jennifer and Chris were married at Lichterman Nature Center.

The ceremony itself was in the amphitheater at Lichterman.

While the guests were having “cocktail hour,” the three of us went down to a gazebo to capture some images of just Jennifer and Chris…

After we finished taking portraits of everyone, it was time to head to the reception! The reception was held in the Davidson Special Event Pavilion on the nature center’s grounds.  Because the wedding took place mid-morning, the reception featured brunch foods.

{Just Married} Susan + Scott: The Bonus Photos

Better late than never, I’ve finally gotten together a few film photos from Susan and Scott’s wedding!

This was my first time using my Bronica ETRSi at a wedding, and I think I will have to bring along an assistant to carry it next time I use it at a wedding! Since Susan is a fellow film photography enthusiast, I gave her a bit of a thrill when I let her hold the Bronica – though she’s so petite that the camera looked super-sized in her hands! She must not have found that to be a problem, because she got herself an ETRS not too long after 🙂

Weddings, as a Guest {Part One}

Subtitled: “Mirrorless Wedding Photography

If my calculations are correct, it had been a full THREE YEARS since I’d attended a wedding as a guest rather than as the wedding photographer. Having two weddings to attend in the month of September was a wonderful treat for me. Being me, of course, I didn’t go to the weddings sans camera. That would be just plain silly! One of my favorite things to do as a photographer is document fun times I’m having with friends, and that’s just what I did at these two weddings.

This actually another post about my Samsung NX1100. When I whipped that camera out at my friend Matt’s wedding, those around me were impressed with its looks and were more than happy to let me photograph them with it (pro tip: never underestimate the value of having a cool looking camera when you want to have people engage with you and allow you to take their photograph.) This was also my first real opportunity to use the little accessory pop-up flash that came with the NX1100.

And so begin the snapshots of my friends…

We obviously had a blast, so it’s fair to say that this camera will be accompanying me to social occasions where I just want some fun snapshots of my friends. Plus, I thought the NX1100 delivered on some of the nicer photos I took around the reception venue. I’m so glad I sold my point-and-shoot digital camera and picked up a mirrorless one. Never looking back!

{Just Married} Susan + Scott

Susan and Scott’s wedding day!

Susan and Scott’s wedding was at Grace-St. Luke’s in Memphis.  As Susan showed me around the church and the hall where their reception would be held, I asked her what she wanted from her wedding photos. Her reply was “Impressions of the day.”  So impressions of the day were what I tried to deliver!

While the guest list was small, making the wedding an intimate affair, Grace-St. Luke’s is a rather large church. The wedding guests were allowed to sit in the choir seats in the chancel (area around the alter) instead of the pews in the nave. I thought that was really awesome! Having a wedding in a large, beautiful space but with the feel of a smaller chapel with your friends and loved ones really close to you during the ceremony!

Yay! Married!

The OBVIOUSLY happy couple

Getting the marriage license paperwork taken care of has never been so cute! Look at Susan!

Photos with friends

I hope I gave Susan and Scott “impressions” of their wedding day with these photos. I also hope that everyone can see how truly happy everyone involved in the day was – from the bride and groom, to their good friends and family who were in attendance. Happy faces, all around! Congratulations, Susan and Scott!
