Birthday-ish Week, 2021

Since my birthday is this weekend, I thought I’d use that as an excuse to post photos I took in the week between my birthday and my sister’s in 2021, since I just got them developed a few months ago!

We had my birthday lunch downtown at Pyro’s Pizza Pies – most memorable was how we were all DYING because my mom was being really chatty with the college students who were sitting next to us. The students seemed to love her though, of couse!

I knocked a cup of vodka sauce at Aldo’s on to the table, my arm, and my pants. That’s the orange part on them.

Little strawberry cakelettes I made to wrap up my own birthday shenanigans that week. They looked so fancy!

My sister’s birthday – we had lunch at R.P. Tracks – I sat across from my niece 🙂 Memorable moment from this lunch: we’re pretty sure that’s where my sister and brother-in-law contracted Covid, which they tested positive for a few days later.

We then went to the Dixon Gallery and Gardens after lunch. As it happened, there were exhibits on that featured dessert-themed art. Perfect for ME!

And finally, the birthday dessert I made for my sister: lemon cheesecake topped with lemon curd, by her request

{No Time Like the Present} Nikon N80, 2018

A roll of film shot in my Nikon N80 back in 2018. A record of days in my life.

Nikon N80 {Mother’s Day}

Last year on Easter weekend, I happened to have my handy dandy Nikon N80 loaded with film and took it with me when I did various things with my family that weekend. I so enjoyed the ease of shooting (auto focus! aperture priority exposure! ultra wide angle lens!) and the results I got, I really wanted to repeat the experience over Easter 2016. Unfortunately, I discovered the batteries were dead in my N80, and I wasn’t able to grab a fresh set in a timely manner. I lost out on my chance for Easter weekend, so I decided that Mother’s Day weekend might be the next best thing! I procured some new batteries, loaded the N80 up with some Kodak Portra 400, and set forth on documenting the weekend. What ended up happening was, I did a little shooting here and there, with most of the roll of film being dedicated to a little photo shoot of my mom in her Mother’s Day garb and wearing some of the presents she received that day. It’s okay. The day was all about her anyway!

My “tattooed mom of Instagram” (that’s a “thing”, but she’s not on IG except when I put her on there!)

Absolutely crazy about the pretty little cut-out at the back of the dress!

Such a cutie!

Wide Angle Cuteness

I had a quick photo shoot at Muddy’s near the end of May, in the brief period of time between getting back from England and starting a month of almost non-stop wedding and event shoots. I had my Nikon N80 and Sigma 24mm/2.8 in my camera bag, so I shot with it alongside the digital photos I was “officially” taking at the bakery that day.

Kat is SO. FRIGGIN. CUTE.

I loved the motion blur in some of these. Frenetic! I’ll explain what was going on here some other time, maybe.

I need to ask Kat’s mom if this is how Kat looked when she was eating cake as a little girl. Probably so.
