{Engaged} Jessica + Dustin

I posted a some Polaroid photos from my session with Jessica and Dustin a few weeks ago. Now, on to the main event!

When I do engagement photos for a couple, I like to hear a little bit about how they met, what the proposal was like, and similar details about their relationship. In my opinion, those details of Jessica and Dustin’s relationship sound like they come straight out of a rom com movie: Meeting at a drive-in movie to which they’d both been invited by a mutual friend. A proposal that was to take place at a Rockettes’ performance at Christmas – complete with Dustin’s plan nearly being foiled by unseasonably warm weather and Jessica being confused about the fact that Dustin insisted on bringing a coat along anyway (to conceal the box containing the engagement ring, of course.) Thankfully, the plan to propose was not foiled and Jessica said “yes!”

We decided to win the whole “engagement photos” thing with these photos

Just a little voguing during our session…

I hope you can tell how much fun I had with Jessica and Dustin during their session. We laughed a lot. They’re pretty awesome*.

Fuji GA645: A Retrospective

I have had a lot of film cameras in my time, because I love film cameras so much! Sometimes, I find that I’m not using a camera often enough to warrant keeping it. That’s what happened to me and my Fuji GA645, which is essentially a big point-and-shoot medium format camera. It was an interesting camera for sure. I had it for a couple of years and decided it had to find a new home where it might get more use. Recently, I began looking back at the photos from the handful of rolls of film I shot with the GA645.  I did use the camera like a giant point-and-shoot at times – especially with shots I grabbed of my (very small back then) niece. As I looked through the photos I’ve included in today’s post, I couldn’t help but wonder if I ever used the GA645 to its fullest potential. So much so that I may have purchased another one this week. (I did.)

Please enjoy this GA645 retrospective with me. Most of these were taken in 2005. The last few are from 2007.

I self-developed  and scanned all the black and white photos. I wish I would have been shooting more color medium format film during the time when I owned the GA645!  I just didn’t have good access to film developing for medium format film back then. I do now though!

If all goes well with the “new” one I’ve got on the way to me now, I’ll make a more extensive post, detailing the camera’s features.

{Instant Engagement} Jessica + Dustin

Last week, I did an engagement session with the (delightful) Jessica and Dustin. I’ll soon be sharing more photos from our afternoon together, but I thought I’d show you a few instant photos I took during our session first!

As Seen On: Muddy’s Memphis

I’ve been doing product photography for Muddy’s for quite some time now. It’s been such a thrill to see my work on their website, because their goodies are so gorgeous! But, with the addition of the Grind House to the Muddy’s family, they’ve got some new things going on over there. There’s an umbrella site now, Muddy’s Memphis, where you can navigate to different branches of the Muddy’s family tree. I was delighted to see the rotation of my photos in the slight redesign of their sites. Truly proud! I couldn’t help but take some screenshots to show you all…
